Requirements

  • More than half to a full day of sun.
  • Good drainage – raised beds ideal

Planting

Soil requirements

  • Will grow in poor soil
  • Control weeds
  • Keep beds clean
  • Well drained

Distance

Fertilization

  • Light feeders
  • Bonemeal, Superphosphate or any 10-10-10
  • Month after bloom

Cutting Iris after bloom

  • Cut entire stem to the rhizome
  • Discard all cut materials
  • Trim leaves

  • Free weeds and debris
  • Rhizomes bask in the sun    
  • Cut bloom stalks after bloom
